Noel E. Samedy Obituary: Queens Man Dies After Drowning During Lake George Pontoon Boat Outing

According to the Warren County Sheriff’s Office, Samedy was spending the day on the lake with a group of friends after they rented a pontoon boat for a summer outing. The group was swimming approximately half a mile north of Green Island when Samedy reportedly went underwater shortly before 1 p.m. and did not return to the surface.

Friends quickly noticed he was missing and alerted emergency responders, leading to an extensive search and rescue effort involving multiple agencies. Crews worked to locate Samedy in the waters of Lake George as authorities coordinated the recovery operation.

Divers from the North Queensbury Fire Department discovered Samedy’s body in approximately 36 feet of water beneath the lake’s surface. Divers with the Warren County Sheriff’s Office later recovered his body, with assistance from the Lake George Park Commission and the New York State Police Aviation Unit.

Authorities have not released details regarding what caused Samedy to go underwater, and the circumstances surrounding the drowning remain under investigation.
